Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips: Match Preview
Bayern Munich enter this encounter as the only major European club side with a 100% winning record, having won a perfect seven games from their past seven matchups in the Bundesliga. Entering this game, the challenge is for Bayern to either increase or maintain their current four-point lead over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
Pep Guardiola has great expectation on his shoulders for the current campaign. After two Bundesliga titles and a DFB-Pokal trophy, fans are impatient to see the Spaniard engineer and genuine run at the Champions League crown.
And considering how much stronger Bayern are than the rest of the league, they should be able to rest key players when required. Sunday, however, will not be a day to rest important players. Guardiola will have to field a strong first XI to defeat a resurgent Dortmund team.
Currently, Bayern are scoring heavily and have the ingredients needed to defeat their league rivals. Robert Lewandowski is a deadly goal threat, while the summer additions of Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman provide next generation speed to replace ageing wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry.
Generally, Bayern’s first XI looks fantastic. And outside of the starters, they have incredible talents like Arturo Vidal and Mario Götze ready to step into the line-up. From a comparative standpoint, Dortmund are not blessed with the same depth
Dortmund have rebounded excellently under new manager Thomas Tuchel, who also replaced Jürgen Klopp when he joined former club Mainz. In replacing the enigmatic Klopp, the newcomer has restored confidence among the team. Going into this game, Dortmund have won five and drawn two to place second behind Bayern.
In all competitions, Dortmund have matched Bayern’s record of three victories in this epic encounter. Last season, Bayern managed to win both league encounters, so Dortmund will be eager to give their fans a good performance on Sunday. And considering Bayern’s perfect winning record, the fans would be delighted with a draw.
However, Dortmund will have to play much better than they did last weekend if they are to earn a point in Munich. After falling behind in their last league game, Dortmund took a 2-1 lead before giving up a late 2-2 draw to Darmstadt.
Although Dortmund have talents like Marco Reus, İlkay Gündoğan, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and the free-scoring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the team is still at risk of inconsistent play and being dominated by elite teams like Bayern.
While Bayern are dominating as expected, Dortmund are rejuvenated and have returned to the Champions League spots. However, patience is needed for a Dortmund side that blew a home victory to lowly Darmstadt.
Bayern will be able to find Dortmund’s defensive weaknesses and exploit them. Considering how Bayern are playing at home, it makes sense to back them to win and for there to be over 2.5 goals.
