The North London derby is one of the hotly contested in the Premier League. Arsenal have enjoyed dominance in years gone by, but now Tottenham Hotspur are the team in the ascendency. For Arsenal, this early kick-off on Saturday is their opportunity to avoid falling even further behind Tottenham in the league table.
Before the international break, Arsène Wenger grumbled about poor decisions in the Gunners’ 3-1 away defeat to Man City. However, it could be pointed out that Man City were unfortunate not to score more, given that Raheem Sterling missed an opportunity and fluffed a pass to Leroy Sané.
For Arsenal, they have to be much tighter in defence against Spurs. In the Man City loss, Wenger tried to use defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin in the middle of a three-man defence. And Wenger might be faced with further difficult decisions, given that defenders Shkodran Mustafi and Per Mertesacker are struggling with injuries.
Arsenal tried to attack against Man City, but the Gunners exposed themselves on the counter. This is going to be a very tough game to get anything from, as Arsenal seem to have regressed from the 1-1 result that occurred at Emirates last November. The Gunners do have attacking talent, but this is consistently at risk of being negated by the defence.

Tottenham are placed in third and must now overcome an eight-point gap if they are to trouble Man City in the race for the Premier League title. Last season saw Tottenham go a step further in their development, but some feel they didn’t go far enough.
Crucially, Tottenham are playing their home games at Wembley, having exhibited the best home form in the league last season. As a result, this leaves Tottenham having to make up any deficit in their away games.
Harry Kane is one player struggling in the Wembley home games, having failed to score against the likes of Burnley, Swansea City, Bournemouth, and Crystal Palace. Kane has been more effective on the road, scoring six of his eight league goals away from home.
Kane will be integral if Tottenham are to beat Arsenal. The star striker missed out on the latest England friendlies due to a minor injury, but he should be fit to play Arsenal. Dele Alli could also return to the fold after also missing those friendlies with a hamstring complaint. Both will give Spurs the ability to break down a leaky Arsenal defence.
Tottenham and Arsenal should be expected to field matching 3-4-2-1 formations, but the Spurs first XI is arguably stronger. Arsenal can provide potential attacking alternatives, but the central core of their side is much weaker than that of Spurs.
A Tottenham clean-sheet could be tough to achieve, given that Eric Dier will be drafted in to replace the injured Toby Alderweireld. Nevertheless, Tottenham could score a couple past Arsenal to secure a 2-1 victory over their North London rivals.
